Do you know that God wants you to be more than just a survivor?
Many of the people who come to the Glennon House are in so much physical and emotional pain that their main goal is to just survive each day. While that is a good goal, God wants more for each of us. He wants us to not only be survivors of our lives, but to also be healed so that we can thrive each day.
In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells us that “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” The Lord wants more for us than walking through life gritting our teeth surviving. He wants us to have abundance. Not an abundance of things, but an abundance of His healing joy, peace, hope, and love. When we fully embrace the Lord’s abundance, we begin to learn how to thrive – no matter our circumstances.
The word thrive comes from a Norse word meaning to grasp. In order to thrive, we needed to be willing to grasp the abundant life that the Lord wants to give us. The only way for this to happen is for us to receive the healing that God desires to do in our mind, body, and spirit. For years, I prided myself on being a survivor. I had survived alcoholism. I had survived cocaine addiction. I had survived numerous psychiatric labels. I had survived teenage pregnancy. I had survived a stroke. But none of those things brought healing joy, peace, hope, or love to my life. They simply gave me the label of Survivor.
It wasn’t until I developed a relationship with the Lord that I began to understand that I was created to do much more than just survive my life. Each step in my healing process brought me into a deeper relationship with the Lord. As I drew closer to Him, I realized that He wanted me to live a thriving life – not just a surviving life. He had created a beautifully abundant life specifically tailored for me. My choice was whether or not to receive the life He wanted to give me.
God wants you to receive your thriving life also.
If you would like to thrive instead of just survive, I encourage you to come to one of our Healing Services on a Tuesday evening. You will hear sermons and testimonies that encourage you to embrace the healing that God wants to do in your life and the lives of your loved ones. He has the gift of an abundant life that He wants to give you. Join in us in receiving the abundance of His healing joy, peace, hope, and love.
Remember: You were made to thrive!
